−Por las lluvias se aplazó el torneo de la semana pasada y los partidos se solapan este finde con el del siguiente, hemos de ir por la mañana a Tarrassa y luego por la tarde al Polo, y si gana, el domingo la segunda ronda del Polo y veremos el otro, espero que gane así se puede clasificar para la fase final del alevín.
−¡¡Vaya findes llevamos, con los aplazamientos por lluvias se cruzan los torneos y todo el finde hipotecados!!.
−No sé si podrá ir al futbol del colegio por que le han puesto partido a la misma hora y no puedo aplazarlo, también no puede ir a la fiesta de fin de curso del equipo porque tiene un partido y le coincide.
−La verdad es que esto del Tennis es un STRESS, si lo sé no lo meto en esto. −No, esta semana no jugará, le he dado descanso, está SATURADO….
Ya, pero Rafa esto, ya, pero Rafa lo otro, que si Federer, que si 20, que si 12, que si Rafa. Todas estas frases, y alguna más, se oyen cuando me pongo a ver entrenar a mi hijo que esta tres pistas más lejos coincidiendo en un espacio con los padres que tienen a sus hijos en la primera, yo, no podía ser de otra forma, llego 30 m antes de que acabe el entreno, el resto del tiempo estoy en el gimnasio, leyendo o estirando en algún rincón, pero me gusta verle jugar un rato(al fin al cabo soy padre también), me gusta verle como se relaciona, me gusta verle desarrollarse como ser humano, no hay más, yo en este contexto no soy nadie, es más, soy un “donnadie”, solo un padre más y mi función se limita a no tocar mucho los huevos a los que están trabajando, que son los técnicos, y la mejor forma para tener éxito en esta tarea es dedicarme a ser un espectador lejano y ajeno a lo que pasa en las pistas, aquí no soy participe, ellos, los demás, por supuesto, ahí desde el principio si pueden, no hay que perderse un detalle de la mejora de mi hijo−jugador!!!!…
Vaya cacao “maravillao” que llevan en el tarro. Pienso con cariño y respeto, pero cacao.
Supongo que sabrían que yo era del gremio, poco a poco vas estableciendo relaciones, un día charlando sobre tonterías sociales: tiempo, futbol, política, etc…sale el tema de los torneos de los chicos, yo me aparto un poco de la conversación ya que no quiero entrar ahí, y se sumergen en una conversación sobre campeonatos de Catalunya, Rankines, Nadales y Federers, páginas web de torneos, los “Pere” no sé qué, los “Pere” no sé cuánto, de repente me preguntan:
−Tu hijo no juega torneos, ¿verdad?.
−No. Como es posible si yo soy del gremio, pensarían, y debería de saber lo que se necesita para mejorar y progresar en el Tennis, y en sus mentes competir 25 semanas al año con 8−10 años es una de ellas.
−¿Y por qué no?.−me preguntan…
−Porque todavía es muy pronto y no hace falta, ya ha jugado la mini cup por equipos con sus compañeros de entrenamiento, y en el “campus” de verano ya juega alguno, en navidad jugó uno más, está bien así, no es necesario ahora más competición .
−Pero… ¿tú quieres que juegue a Tennis?, ¿no?.
−Esa pregunta no es correcta. −Replico.
−No se trata si yo quiero o no, se trata de si él quiere, y eso aun no lo sé, ni siquiera él lo sabe, él marcará el camino.
−No entiendo.
−Veremos si quiere o no, veremos su talento, veremos si es deportista, veremos muchas cosas, veremos si sabe dejar todo por este sueño, no sé, no puedo contestar, todavía es pronto para saber esas cosas, ahora es solo un juego más, con lo cual la pregunta correcta es si él quiere jugar, y no es a mí a quien deben preguntársela, es a él, y todavía no se ha de formular, es pronto.
−Pero el año que viene hace 11.
−¿Y qué problema hay?.
−¿Qué puede ser ya un poco tarde?.
−¿Tarde para qué? −Pregunto.
−Para coger experiencia, para ser profesional.
El señor lanza tal bestialidad de enunciado, como si nada, al aire, sin pensar, sin complejos, como si hubiese visto 15 generaciones de jugadores crecer y pudiese contrastar, como si tuviese un zoom amplio de toda la escena, un enunciado sin ningún tipo de base ni sustento, y lo más importante, desde la ignorancia supina de este deporte y todo lo que conlleva la formación.
En fin…toma dos respiraciones Gonzalo y a ver como explico el Tennis a estos señores, pues solo hay una forma, pienso, con la verdad, al menos mi verdad, extraída de la experiencia de ver 15−20 generaciones y llevar 35 años entre jugadores de competición, algunos jugando y muchos entrenándolos:
−NO HOMBRE NO, NO ES TARDE PARA NADA. − Replico…
−Miren:
−Un tenista profesional “estándar”, no un extraterrestre, tendrá 10 años de máximo esplendor entre los 23 y 33. −Ya, pero Rafa. Primera interrupción…y quinta vez que oigo en las conversaciones: Ya, pero Rafa…
−Ya, Rafa.−Contesto. Pero su hijo, y ninguno de los que están aquí, incluido el mío, es Rafa, cada uno es él, no son Rafa, ni tienen el 5% de su talento y capacidad, acéptelo o no, es su problema, pero con este “ ya pero Rafa”, están cometiendo uno de los más garrafales errores como padres, comparar, cada uno tiene su evolución y cada uno es único, si quieren cargarse la cabeza de su hijo sigan comparándolo con Rafa o con otros, pero a antes acepten que su hijo, es su hijo, y no Rafa, ni aquel, ni el de más allá, tendrá más posibilidades de ser tenista ya que no proyectaran sobre su hijo la frustración de creer que su hijo pueda ser igual que él y no llegarle en aptitudes deportivas al tobillo.
Primera ostia en la cara me gusta empezar así, me miran un poco así de esa manera, no les gusto escuchar esto.
−Aunque si quieren les digo lo que quieren oír, como hacen muchos, y les digo que sí, que su hijo puede ser el próximo Rafa, que siga su sueño, que todo es posible y toda la moralina vacía que surca el mar de la red, pero entonces no dormiría tranquilo y les estaría mintiendo.
−Después de la interrupción proseguí:
−Para llegar a esos 23 con el desarrollo correcto para entrar en los “Tops 100” y ser profesional, sobre los 20, con algún año de margen, ha de estar en torno al 200 y con 17 pillar algún punto (siempre con algún año de margen, puntualizo), y para conseguir tales objetivos deportivos con 18−20, que es un punto de partida óptimo para afrontar los últimos 2−3 años de formación con garantías para romper el ansiado “Top 100”, he de tener un chico entre 14 a 18 años en plenas facultades físicas y sobre todo mentales, ahí empieza todo, ahí en ese periodo es donde está la verdadera progresión, piensen que en 4 años va a pasar de jugar un sub 14 contra niños a jugar profesional con adultos, y todo este cambio bestial coincidiendo con el cambio humano de niño a casi adulto pasando por la adolescencia, en fin… un “mix” emocional y físico que o se sabe dónde estás o es fracaso seguro. −Como digo, la verdadera progresión está en esos años, de 14 a 18, todos los chicos se pierden ahí, y muchos llegan ahí ya casi perdidos, si coges a Rafa con 14 años y juega con otro campeón mundial de 14 que no haya llegado, la diferencia de juego técnica, táctica y física es mínima o nula.
−¿Pero saben porque uno va y otro no va?
−Porque uno llega lesionado de tarro a los 14, aunque juegue bien, pero acuérdense que de 14 a 18 está el cambio de niño a adulto pasando por la pubertad y todas las emociones asociadas a esa edad, esto no se tiene en cuenta, se deja a la ligera y es de suma importancia, es más, es el santo grial del desarrollo de jugadores, cuidar sus emociones, las propias y las heredadas, muchos llegan lesionados de cabeza porque llevan desde los 8 compitiendo, 6 años metidos en el rollo destructivo del ranking y aguantando sus presiones, sus comparaciones y sus frustraciones originadas por las expectativas que ustedes han puesto en sus cabezas, en cabezas no preparadas para asimilar tales emociones, llegaran a los 14 quemados, acuérdense, actuando así ya tienen 11 en la quiniela y solo tienen 10 años.
−Entonces se darán cuenta con 16−18 de que tiene una cabeza malísima para este juego, siendo inconsciente de que nadie ha cuidado de sus emociones, ni se han dado cuenta, se han nublado con los 4 partiditos que ha ganado, han perdido la perspectiva de la gran influencia que tienen en sus hijos, solo con una mirada es suficiente, no hace falta decir el clásico, “es que yo no le digo nada”, no hace falta, una mirada es el espejo del alma, y él la capta, pero casi ya es tarde y van al último recurso que es la tercera nueva burbuja de este deporte, la primera es el mito, ya elevado a casi tragedia griega, de los 4 golpes de media en los puntos, la segunda la metodología enfocada a la perfección técnica, y la tercera: buscaran un mental coach debido a su incapacidad de gestionar un hijo−tenista, y con esto no digo que no sean valiosos, digo que si lo NECESITAN van por mal camino, porque no se ha de NECESITAR, debe ser un complemento de la formación.
Prosigo:
−Un chico ha de llegar emocionalmente fuerte a esa edad, no puede llegar con una mochila de culpas, expectativas no cumplidas, complejos de inferioridad y con todas las emociones toxicas que se les ocurran muy grabadas en capas inferiores de su personalidad gracias a que las están sufriendo desde muy niño y sin armas psicológicas para afrontarlas, es un peso muy grande es sus espaldas como para poder afrontar un partido y mucho menos para afrontar 4 años de formación importantísimos de 14 a 18.
−Los chicos llegan a los 14, no todos, pero en porcentaje alto, más quemados que la pipa de un indio, no lo parece, siguen jugando y lo hacen bien, pero en su interior hay una bomba de relojería debido a que todas esas emociones toxicas se han totalmente identificadas con su ser gracias a que el entorno más cercano vivió bajo la premisa :»Ya pero Rafa”, y se creía que debía empezar con 8, pero lo único que hizo con esta precocidad es llevar tu cerebro y su sistema de aprendizaje al bloqueo, es decir, ¡¡¡¡no aprenderá más!!!!, la mayoría de chicos juegan igual desde los 14 a 18, más rápido y fuerte pero exactamente con los mismos errores técnicos, tácticos y mentales debido a esa montaña emocional a la que están subidos desde los 6−8 años, un “Cocktail” perfecto para que su sistema de aprendizaje se bloque y peten.
−Por no decir la cantidad de lesiones físicas que sufren en tempranas edades debido a que sus blandos tendones, cartílagos, músculos, manguitos, vertebras y articulaciones y todo lo que se les ocurra del cuerpo han estado sometidos a grandes presiones sin estar preparados, sufriendo una biomecánica extrema en edades muy tempranas en “pos” de una modernidad que el “establishment” dicta que hay que implantarse con 6, y eso sin contar la cantidad de lesiones psicomatizadas e irreales que él sentirá como reales debido a su miedo de afrontar un torneo, convirtiéndolas en su excusa estrella, suerte si hace 5 días seguidos de entrenamientos completos de 3 sesiones, dos Tennis y una físico, siempre pasará algo.
−En contrapartida el otro va como un tiro por que tiene una cabeza sana, receptiva, abierta, con recursos para sobreponerse a los problemas, el otro si sube de nivel en 4 años en todos los aspectos, fácil la diferencia: uno tiene un entorno preparado para hacer aflorar su potencial y el otro tiene un desastre de entorno que lo único que ha hecho es desconectarle de el mismo produciéndole un distanciamiento de la realidad que le hace estar enfadado con el mundo.
−Y si me das a un chico de 14 quemado mentalmente y ya teniendo que poner cuidado para que no se lesione, ya le digo yo que se busque a Jesucristo de entrenador porque lo que va a necesitar para que su hijo sea profesional es un milagro, ya que a lázaro solo lo levanto él, yo, al menos no tengo ese don…
−Si un chico llega sano mentalmente a los 12 sin mucha experiencia competitiva pero con un nivel decente, aunque no sea de los mejores, pero tampoco de los peores, hay tiempo en 3−5 años que se ponga al nivel competitivo, no ganara en sub 14 de España, pero estará fresco, con ganas, motivada y sano, pero el otro ya está pensando en el ranking, y esto se traduce en frustración en cada derrota mientras que para el otro todo es nuevo y empieza a experimentar con una mente más formada, y sobre todo abierta, convirtiéndose en una esponja, pero si desde 8 años está en este rollo, están abonando la tierra para que la semilla de la frustración, de la inseguridad, de la expectativa no cumplidas y que la mierda mental crezca con mucha más facilidad que con 12−14.
−Frustración, mi hijo no está frustrado. Me dice uno.
−Su hijo es aquel que se enfada cada vez que falla.
−Si es ese. −Es verdad, tiene razón, no está frustrado…
−¿Qué edad tiene su hijo?.
−11.
−Pues empiece a cuidarlo que ya está creciendo en él el anti−Tennis en el tarro.
−¿Entonces, que han de hacer?
−Aquí hay chicos de 10-11 años, todavía quedan 12-13 años de desarrollo, 13 AÑOS, entienden, por qué tanta prisa, saben porque tanta prisa, porque ustedes quieren que su hijo sea campeón a los 14 y así poder pasearse por el club con la cabeza alta, que les saquen de trabajar y codearse con los grandes nombres, lo hacen por ustedes, no por él…
−Pero si piensan en ellos y no en ustedes ni en la vorágine que el “establishment” les ha metido y se han creído, harían que los chicos hibernasen, es decir desde septiembre a diciembre, entrenamiento y colegio, que crezca, que sea niño, que se desarrolle emocionalmente de una forma natural, ser niño es imprescindible para su desarrollo como persona, no pasen etapas tan rápido, tiempo al tiempo, la especificación (tRFE:tennisxetapas) llega a los 14, y si la persona no crece emocionalmente sano, la persona-tenista no crece.
−Competición por equipos como mucho, en navidad que jueguen torneos, vuelta a hibernar enero-marzo, en semana santa torneo, vuelta a hibernar abril junio y el verano a competir, así hasta los 12, luego puedes incrementar algo más la competición, repito algo más, y a partir de 14 ya estamos en un 60% de la competición incrementándola paulatinamente hasta los 18 donde ya eres uno más, si uno más, ya no juegas con niños, juegas con hombres, el cambio es brutal, juegas con 17 los ITF Juniors, torneazos que te hacen creer que ya estas, que eres bueno, y al año, ¡!!qué año!!!, al mes, diciembre eres junior y estas en una vida de oro y en enero a la jungla, zasca, pasas de una Orange Bowl con toda su infraestructura a” toma tres bolas y ves a la pista 9 en la qualy de Tunez contra un tipo de 26 años”, caja, acabas de empezar, si acabas de empezar, pero nadie te lo ha dicho, te creías bueno en ese ITF y estando el 50 del mundo, ahora estas el 1000, el cambio es brutal y difícil de asimilar si tu cabeza no está bien amueblada.
−A nuestros hijos todavía les quedan años para empezar, ocho años de preparación libre de lesiones y físicas y mentales, no es momento de jugar al tenista bueno y tenista malo, es momento de estar en la sombra creciendo con el día a día, aun así, aquí no hay regla fija,
−¿Y nosotros que hacemos?.
−Nada, simplemente educar a una persona, apartarse del camino y confiar en el entrenador, estáis empezando a cometer el error de educar a un tenista, os olvidáis que un tenista es una persona, tu hijo está tirando la raqueta y tú le dices que tranquilo, que luche, no se puede hacer peor, te has olvidado de tu hijo-persona y solo prestas atención a tu hijo−tenista, coge a tu hijo lo borras del torneo del finde, le quitas la play y a hacer vida familiar el finde, con tranquilo y lucha, no se educa.
−Entonces los demás le avanzaran, no tendrá experiencia …-Me dicen.
−Veo que no ha escuchado nada, sigue con el mismo tipo de preguntas, hágase otras preguntas diferentes escuchando a gente diferente, hagan lo que quieran, ya me dirán en unos años, deseo que no tengan que acordarse de esta conversación, pero ya van mal, suerte porque van a cruzar el desierto sin agua y sin estar preparado para encontrarla.
−Para acabar asuman una cosa: esto es una lotería, lo que les he explicado no es aplicable al desarrollo de los extraterrestres, estos seres a pesar de todo si evolucionan, ¿pero saben cuántas carreras de NO extraterrestres se truncan por un entorno pésimo?, muchas, por no decir todas, para evolucionar chicos normales, hoy en día, se ha de saber dónde se pisa.
−Si llega bien y si no también, es más, partan de la base de que no y a lo mejor les toca la primitiva, han de asumirlo, esto no es un fin, es un camino para el crecimiento personal, pero para ustedes es un fin y están estresados con ese fin, y ese estrés se lo transmiten a los chicos.
−Ya, pero Rafa con 17…Suelta uno…
No tengo tiempo para más Rafas, ni Federers ni Djokovics, solo tengo tiempo para formar a una persona emocionalmente estable para que reluzca su potencial, sea Tennis o petanca, me da igual, eso no depende de mí, ese es mi 50%, el otro 50% depende de él y su entrenador de Tennis o de petanca, y ahí no puedo entrar.
−Ya, pero Rafa y su tío… No paran, son insaciables…
−Perdonen, pero nos vamos, he de coger el autobús. Acabó el entreno. −Nos vemos el próximo día.
−¿No tienes el coche?.
−Está en el Parking.
−¿Te llevo?.
−No, no hace falta, ser tenista se aprende dentro de las pistas entrenando y fuera de las pistas enseñándole a renunciar a comodidades que no tocan en este momento, y seguramente pensando asi me equivocare 1000 veces…
